Major 6.4 and 6.3 earthquakes hit Iran only 11 minutes apart on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 12:23:17 and 12:34:35 UTC, at depths of 9.9 km (6.2 mi) and 9.8 km (6.1 mi) respectively.  Three major (>5.9) earthquakes have hit in less than 24 hours!  There have been 18 lower intensity aftershocks so far.
